Christmas Morning

As soon as Zoe woke up, she wanted to go downstairs to see if Santa was still there. She also wanted me to carry her - I think the thought of a strange large bearded man in her house was a little scary, yet exciting. Dave snapped this picture as soon as she saw the presents under the tree! I just love the excitement this kid exudes!

She ran to the tree and quickly noticed that Santa left her penguin presents (we used penguin wrapping paper for her gifts).










Zoe's helping her Daddy unwrap the present she made for him. It was a little penguin ornament with a picture of her riding on his shoulders through the St. Louis Zoo.

This was her art project a few days before Christmas.










And what's becoming a tradition for Zoe and her Grandma and Grandpa Burnette, they got her her first set of REAL lego's. She's moved up on the Lego ladder and now can play with the real-sized lego's. Wow - did you know how many teeny-tiny pieces come in a standard set of lego's? Holy cow!

We had fun building several things right then and there. Mommy loves the pink blocks, too!

To set the story up, for the past few months, Zoe has absolutely loved the Spike the Dinosaur display at Target and insists on pushing the button to hear him ROAR everytime we go, which is a weekly event. So, Santa thought "what a great present to get Zoe this year". We had to special order it because none of the stores locally had any left a few weeks before Christmas when we decided this was going to be her big present for the year. She even would say in the store "I wish I had this dinosaur at home".

Ok, now, enter the pictures of her looking in the gift bag, where Spike was fully assembled, batteries charged, ready to go.... and then notice how far away she was moments after I pulled the bag down from Spikes neck....

She jumped in my lap and really was not very happy about the dinosaur coming to live at her house anymore. She went as far as getting on top of the table with the remote and not letting either me or Dave touch it. She asked us if Santa could come back and take Spike back to Target. Oh dear. We agreed and thought it best to take him back... we'd wait a few days for the after the rush of returns. (Look for an updated post on how Zoe warmed up to Spike and no longer wants Santa to take him away)


This was Mommy's favorite present that Santa brought for Zoe, a wooden dollhouse complete with a set of wooden furniture and dolls. Santa found a really good deal on Amazon.com - Mommy was thrilled! Zoe likes it, too.
